Training your hair.

Yes, there is such a thing as training your hair. When I say that to people they look at my with the ridiculous look, like I’m stupid. I know so many girls who have to wash their hair everyday or their hair can’t hold curls, well girls there IS a solution!

OILY HAIR

i used to be one of those girls who had to wash their hair everyday, I hated it. I feel like washing my hair everyday is SUCH a hassle also it’s not healthy for you to wash it every single day. You can train your hair to where you don’t have to wash it every day by making it less oily. Unfortunately, it’s not a great experience. It’s annoying and you gotta be ready to put that hair up in a pony or bun. Look back at my post “hairstyles on the go” they will be your lifesavers when going through this process! I’ve said this before but dry shampoo will become your BESTFRIEND! I use Suave dry shampoo from walmart, I’ve tried different kinds and I’m in love with this one! PLUS it’s only $2, can it get much better?

Ex: wash your hair Monday and style it however you usually do, Tuesday morning throw some dry shampoo on it and style however you want, then Wednesday (this is where it starts getting tough) throw some more dry shampoo on it,maybe even take your blow dryer and go over your head for a minute to add some volume! Wednesday would be the day you’d throw your hair up into a messy bun! If you’re really serious about training your hair, plan washing your hair around your schedule. If you know on Wednesday you won’t have any plans but class or something then wash your hair on monday(like my example). Like I said this process honestly does suck but it’s worth it!!

CURLING

If you’ve kept up with my blog then you know I had short hair for a long time. Before I cut my hair my hair held curls so easily but after four years of no curling because it was so short my hair couldn’t hold curls like it use to. I would curl my hair and they would fall out by the end of the night, it was so annoying. You just gotta keep doing it, keep curling it even though you know it’s gunna end up looking like crap at the end of the night. You’ve gotta make some sacrifices. One thing that I really feel that helped me train my hair to hold curls again was whenever I would shower at night I would dry my hair like normal then out it in a little side braid(not a French braid, just regular) then sleep with it like that. When I woke up the next morning I would just curl my hair like normal. After being braided all night it helped my hair have a wavy look to it so that helped keep the curl in longer!

This is the curling tutorial I used forever ago. I always curl my hair like this now!

TEASING

this is another one of those things you have to train your hair to do. I’ve had A MILLION people come up to me asking me how I get my hair teased and stay to that way. My hair hasn’t always done it. Like I’ve said before you have to keep doing it, over and over, and finally your hair will just start doing what you want it to do! People with thick hair have a difficult time getting their tease to stay because their hair is SO heavy. You just need to figure out what works for your and make hairspray your BESTFRIEND.

I hope hope this helps for you girls who have trouble with any of these things! Let me know what you do for your hair to stay curled or teased! Here’s to luscious curls and teasing it to the sky!

XOXO

Comments

  1. Great article! I’m trying to train my hair to not be washed every day, but it sucks! I hate the feeling of greasy hair. I’ve been using a cleansing conditioner a few days per week instead of shampoo.

  2. My hair is sooo difficult to keep curled. I’m lucky to get a few good hours out of it. But I battle through! Haha. Good tips here, though, thanks! <3
