Fabulous Locks

I used to ask myself everyday ” why can’t I have amazing long pretty hair”.  The truth is we all can! Somtimes it’s just a long process and as much as we don’t want to, we HAVE to be patient. My senior year of high school I thought it would be a good idea to chop off my long hair all the way up past my shoulders. I wish I knew at that time how much of a mistake that was! I was going back between bleach blonde and brunette hair and honestly it wasn’t healthy at all. At that time in my life I wasn’t sure how to take care of my hair. As my junior year of college came along I was surrounded by all these beautiful women, especially my sorority sisters, who in my eyes had the most amazing hair. I decided that I was going to be one of those women. Everyone has a different hair routine, especially when trying to grow it out, but I will let you all know everything exactly how I did it. Within less than a year, my hair went from right at my collarbone to right past my boobs.( no better way to say it!) I’m absolutely thrilled to see this progress and it is still continuing to grow and get thicker. It now takes me around 20-30 minutes to completely dry my hair with the amount I have. So now let’s get started!

BIOTIN:

These pills need to become your best friend. Within less than a year I took around 1 and a half bottles worth. These are also the only type of pills, etc I took during my hair growing process. You have to be patient. You’re not going to take one pill and see a difference. Once your hair is strong and healthy it will start growing like crazy and you won’t know what to do with it! I also use to be a coke fanatic! I changed my ways and started drinking tons of water. Of course some days I cheated but if I did have a coke it was only one!!

WASHING:

okay, when it comes to washing and conditioning I found that that there really is a way to do it right! That really shocked me. Think about the amounts of heat you put on your hair when styling, using scalding hot water is just as bad! I know this is going to sound horrible and you definitely aren’t going to want to do it but WASH YOUR HAIR WITH COLDER WATER!! This helps a ton. Plus I started only washing the roots of my hair and conditioning the ends. I know there are some girls who absolutely HAVE to wash your hair everyday, I was one of them, but start training your hair. Yes, training. This part kind of gets miserable but it’s worth it, not only for growing. Dry shampoo will be your BESTFRIEND! There’s all kinds but I use suave dry shampoo, I’ve tried plenty but this one has always worked wonders for me. You can also use baby powder if you have lighter hair. It works the exact same and it’s better for you considering there’s no chemicals like dry shampoo! Try to go atleast one day before washing again. For example; washMonday then wait until Wednesday. Eventually you can go a few days and won’t even have to use dry shampoo anymore!

STYLING:

I know we all want to have perfectly straight or curled hair everyday but face it, if you want your hair to grow and be healthy that just can’t happen. One huge thing I did when growing out my hair was trying to use close to no heat at all on my hair. I know sometimes you have to cheat a little when you have plans to go out, etc. I did that too.  If you absolutely have to dry your hair use the COLDEST SETTING! Heck, even push the little snow flake on there that most blow dryers have. If you’re like me then your not one of those people who we all hate, they can blow dry their hair and do nothing else….I know, those bitches. My hair is a frizz ball after drying.

No, it won’t look perfect but hey you gotta make sacrifices. This is it! All I need and once my hair started growing it wouldn’t stop. Sometimes I’ll be straightening my hair and think gosh where did all this come from! If you have any questions, please ask away!
