Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

When it comes to my makeup in general I don’t use a lot of drug store makeup anymore but I tend to use drug store foundations. I wanted to try a more high end one. I’ve heard about this foundation from quite a few bloggers and youtubers and decided that I really needed to try it. You can purchase the double wear foundation here.

First off this packaging of this foundation is beautiful. It looks so classic and expensive. It is glass and a little bulky so some people may not like that but it doesn’t bother me. When applying this foundation I use a Morphe M439 Brush. I used to use this brush but now the M439 is my holy grail. I usually pour some on the back of my hand, dip my M439 brush into the foundation and start applying in dapping motions. With the foundation I tap the end of the brush onto the opening of the bottle then start applying. A LITTLE goes a long way, seriously.  If you want a more dewy look I recommend applying it with a damp beauty blender.

This foundation is medium/full coverage, easily buildable. Here lately I’ve been a little oily so I normally need something with a matte finish. This is a semi-matte foundation. When using this I find that I need to set it with a powder after applying but with other matte foundations I can skip that step. I ordered shade Dessert Beige and it is a little too light for me. The swatches on the computer aren’t exactly true in my opinion.  Throughout the day the foundation never separated or looked cakey. Through being outside in the hot sun, eating, and anything else I did my foundation stayed in place.

I would definitely recommend moisturizing before applying this foundation, it will help it go on smoother. Since it’s matte this may not be the best foundation for someone with dry skin. I used a primer before applying as well then finish off by using Urban Decay Setting Spray.

I only found one con while using this product. After applying my foundation I apply concealer under my eyes to highlight and blend out with a beauty blender. After blending I could see a horrible line where my concealer and foundation met so I end up having to blend the edges out with my M439. I cannot stand that. I’ve even switched up my concealers several times and have the same problem no matter what. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know!

Overall I really enjoy this product and recommend it.

hope this helps if you are debating on whether or not to buy!

  1. This might be my next high end foundation purchase! I’ve only heard good things about it. How does it photograph?

    • Beautifully! This will be my go to for special occasions. It has little to none SPF in it which prevents having that white face in pictures when using the flash!

  1. […] week I wrote a review over this foundation, you can see it here! For those of you with oily skin I definitely recommend trying this! Stays in place all […]
