About Me.

I’m Bethany and the creator/owner of Simply Bethany. I’m 24, from KY who just moved to ATL. I just graduated from WKU with a degree in dental hygiene. Newly engaged as of April to the love of my life! We just became parents to the most precious baby boy on October 28th, his name is Asher.

Why did you start your blog?

I started Simply Bethany in June 2014. All throughout college I was my friends go-to person for fashion/hair/makeup advice. When we had dances, events, etc. I was the one who showed up hours early so I do everyone else’s hair and makeup! I started out focusing mainly on makeup but changed direction and now I’m more focused on fashion. I honestly created this blog for fun and never imagined people actually following along but I’m so happy with how much I’ve grown my blog since 2014.

How do you curl your hair?

I use a regular old Conair 1.5in curling iron. Instead of using the clamp, I wrap my hair around it like you would do with a wand. It gives you more of a wave effect and I personally think it lasts longer. Another trick to make them last longer is to pink up your curls while your hair cools!

How often do you wash your hair?

Here lately, I wash my hair 3-4 times a week depending on what I’m doing! Dry shampoo is my best friend!

What are your go-to lip colors?

Right now I’m loving, Kylie Cosmetics KOKO K and CANDY K. Stila Liquid Lipstick in Bacca. Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Soft Lilac.

Beauty Must-Haves?

I don’t know how I ever survived without the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, this stuff will change your life. The most universal bronzer I’ve tried is the Benefit Hoola, it’s a beautiful shade for so many skin tones. Morphe Brushes are hands down the best I’ve ever tried.

How tall are you?

5’4″

What camera do you use?

Right now, I’m using a Canon EOS Rebel T5 Digital SLR with a 50mm lens, it does the trick!

What suggestions do you have for new bloggers?

Don’t give up! By no means am I an expert but I’ve learned so much over the last year or so. Stay true to yourself and write about what you love. One of the most important things I’ve learned is that you have to have great content, not just writing but pictures. Ever since I started focusing more on my pictures I’ve noticed so much more traffic. Don’t just start a blog because of a spur of the moment kind of thing. I wish I would have researched and planned way more, it would have save a lot of headache and stress. Use social media as much as possible and make friends with other bloggers.
